Interesting. I was listening to talkback radio, and it seemed that yes, there was a strong anti-Labour sentiment. But there was also a very strong anti-government sentiment as a number of people expressed the fear that National would do nothing different. But what I found even more interesting were the number of callers that phoned in the afternoon talking about the political strategy of politicians not getting involved in all this. To me it sounded like a whole lot of political strategists phoning in, one after another. Giving us the spin.

I2, yes, H didn't hear the protest at all. Just like she didn't know the car she was travelling in was going 160K. You'd think as a PM she'd take more notice of things.
&just as a topical aside ... 'bigger is better' was never intended to relate to eighteen wheelers trundling the highways at 120kph with their reputed high percentage of insufficient braking capability. Frightening things,especially in the wet. If SUVs tend to reduce the population in the ratio of 8:1, then why go bigger. Also of interest is that lung cancer clusters are found around Highyway 1 ... that diesel is so much cheaper ... but oh, there may just be some collateral damage here, oh dear.
Only the truck drivers, Os ... the 'bullies' of the roads, tanks full of that more environmentally safe H2S04 that reduces to SO2 & PM<10 stuff. So, I guess, Os, no lead in their pencils & no knocking either.
Well, a bit of of it is about the cost of transport- but mostly it's about an idea.
The idea that people seem to be finally becoming aware of.
That government has spread through our lives like a cancer As with so many cancers, it is at the point of killing you when you finally become aware of it.
We are about to get this cancer cut out. That much is obvious now.
But cancer has this nasty habit of coming back.
Today's protests- rather small beer on the world stage- serve notice that that apathy levels in NZ have finally been overcome. This SHOULD be a strong message to ALL parties that we are sick of being continually leeched upon to support the agendas of a few.
I know that NZ can be roused to far more meaningful demonstrations than a traffic jam. Study your history if you think this rhetoric.
Today's gesture was the first rocks tumbling down the slope before the landslide.
TV One news played it down at least initially but the enormity of what happened today couldn't be pushed away that easily and was pretty obvious regardless.
