  1. This is why homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular in the United States, where it is now a secured in law following a series of court cases and resulting legislative changes several decades ago. With courts favouring liberty these laws will not be able to be overturned.

If the cost of living in a given state makes it prohibitive to only have one income earner then there are other states and cities across the USA that have lower costs of living.

Nonetheless, to have a policeman arrest and charge you just because you are not following rules reminds me somewhat of the UK's Public Order Act. Britain's system and part of America now resembles, at times, the Soviet Union.

Also, the father was gesturing, he did not attempt to assault the policeman.

  2. Oh yes, that blowhard having his incomprehensible rant cut off was a terrible breach of his human rights, unlike this perfectly normal exercise of the rule of law.

  3. Yeah PM we might agree that their punishment was on the harsh side, it was in accordance with law though.

Gennady Zyuganov famously suggested tha appropriate punishment would be to smack their bottoms and send them back to their parents - sounds good to me :)

There is more to this pussy riot thing than meets the eye though - it is far more offensive to most Russians than would be understood by readers of the NYT.

It more than matches this from the UK where the woman concerned received a suspended prison sentence
